Why does level marketing not work for most people? Multi level marketing fails for the majority of participants because of unrealistic expectations, lack of sales skills, poor company selection, and a business model that concentrates earnings at the top of the distributor hierarchy. Studies show that the vast majority of MLM participants earn little to no profit, and many lose money after factoring in product purchases and business expenses.

**Main Reasons MLM Fails**

*   **Unrealistic income expectations.** Many people join MLM expecting fast, passive income. In reality, building a profitable network takes consistent effort over 1–3 years.
*   **No real sales activity.** Some distributors focus entirely on recruitment and never develop actual selling skills. Without product sales to real customers, there is no revenue.
*   **Market saturation.** In established MLM companies, local markets can become oversaturated with distributors selling the same product, making it harder to find new customers.
*   **High turnover.** The dropout rate in MLM is extremely high. When your team members quit, your override commissions disappear.
*   **Poor company choice.** Some MLM companies have weak products, unfair compensation plans, or operate too close to a pyramid scheme structure.

The MLM business model itself is not inherently broken — but it demands real sales effort, discipline, and the right company. Most people treat it as a lottery, not a business.
