**The Real Damage**

Are pyramid schemes bad just financially? No. The harm goes deeper than money. Pyramid schemes damage personal relationships because participants are encouraged to recruit friends and family. When the scheme fails, those relationships often suffer permanent damage.

Pyramid schemes also create a false sense of entrepreneurship. Participants believe they are building a business, but in reality they have no control over the product, pricing, or structure. They are simply funneling money upward.
