A unilevel compensation plan is an MLM structure where every distributor places all personally sponsored recruits on a single frontline level, with no width restrictions. It is the simplest and most transparent plan in network marketing.

**How the unilevel structure works**

*   **Unlimited width** — distributors can sponsor as many people as they want on level 1, all sitting side by side.
*   **Fixed depth payout** — commissions pay through a set number of generations (typically 5 to 10 levels deep).
*   **Level-based percentages** — level 1 might pay 5%, level 2 4%, level 3 3%, declining with depth.
*   **No spillover** — every recruit you sponsor stays on your frontline; no automatic placement under others.
*   **Companies using it** — Forever Living, Nu Skin, doTERRA, and most wellness MLMs run unilevel or unilevel-derived plans.

**Definition:** A unilevel compensation plan pays commissions on sales generated by a fixed number of generations below each distributor, with unlimited width on every level. Each personally sponsored recruit stays on the sponsor's first level, and earnings depend on building a wide frontline and developing leaders within the limited payout depth.

When evaluating what is unilevel compensation plan suitability for a company, look at product price and consumption frequency. Unilevel is best for companies that want simple math, strong frontline focus, and easy explanation to new recruits. Its weakness is shallow depth, which limits passive income unless paired with rank bonuses or infinity bonuses.
