# What Are the 7 Elements of Marketing?

The 7 elements of marketing — also called the 7 Ps — are Product, Price, Place, Promotion, People, Process, and Physical evidence. What are the 7 elements of marketing? They extend the original 4 Ps to better cover service businesses, which makes them particularly relevant to MLM and direct selling where the distributor relationship is part of the product itself.

**Each element in MLM context**

*   **Product** — the actual goods or services the MLM company sells.
*   **Price** — retail price, distributor wholesale price, starter kit cost.
*   **Place** — channels where products are sold: parties, online, replicated websites, social media.
*   **Promotion** — advertising, recruitment messaging, distributor incentives.
*   **People** — distributors, corporate staff, and customers who shape the brand experience.
*   **Process** — order fulfillment, distributor onboarding, commission payouts.
*   **Physical evidence** — packaging, training materials, corporate office, branded events.

**Definition:** The 7 elements of marketing are Product, Price, Place, Promotion, People, Process, and Physical evidence — an expansion of the original 4 Ps. In MLM, all seven elements are deeply intertwined because the distributor is simultaneously a person, a process, and a promoter of the product.

The 7 elements model fits MLM better than the 4 Ps because it forces companies to think about People and Process. Most MLM failures trace back to weak distributor onboarding or broken commission processes, which the 4 Ps simply don't cover.
