Some schemes claim 12-15 levels, but the math breaks down long before all those levels can be filled. How many levels is in a pyramid scheme varies by company, but the structure always collapses well before the deepest levels are populated.

**Typical pyramid scheme depth and why it matters**

*   **5-7 levels** — common in smaller schemes; requires recruiting roughly 16,000-280,000 people to fill the bottom level.
*   **8-10 levels** — typical of larger schemes; the bottom level would require recruiting 60 million+ people.
*   **12+ levels** — claimed by some schemes, but the bottom levels are essentially impossible to fill.
*   **Average distributor depth** — most participants recruit fewer than 3 people, so their personal "downline" rarely goes deeper than 1-2 levels.
